Legal Aid of NorthWest
Texas, along with the Texas Equal Access to Justice Foundation and
the Women’s Advocacy Project will sponsor a one-day legal symposium on
domestic violence for the 73 domestic violence agencies in the Texas
Panhandle, North and West Texas. The legal symposium for shelter executive
directors and legal advocates will be held in Dallas Texas. Every shelter
director and legal advocate located in the 114 county service area of Legal
Aid will be invited free of charge with travel expenses subsidized.
AIRFARE AND OR TRAVEL EXPENSES
LANWT will reimburse one executive director and legal advocate from each
agency for their airfare or mileage reimbursement
they will incur to travel to Dallas for this event. If you fly, we will
also reimburse you for ground travel to the training site.
Trainers will include
attorneys and advocates from Legal Aid, the Women’s Advocacy Project, and
Texas Equal Access for Justice Foundation, private attorneys, Texas Judges,
The American Bar Association and other advocacy organizations.
The all day program includes
substantive workshops, sessions and multiple tracks for executive directors
and legal advocates on how to assist and support victims of domestic
violence needing to access the legal system to help end the cycle of
violence. Workshops include:

Overview of LANWT Private Attorney Involvement Program
This is great opportunity for agencies and legal aid offices to be able to
communicate about polices and procedures and help each other identify the
best ways to assist the clients we serve.
